Are we heading to have a “Dark Winter”?

Are we heading to have a “Dark winter"?

Since July we’ve been hearing in various news outlets that “this is going to be a dark winter due to the pandemic.” Most recently Mr. Biden has used it quite a while and others have followed suggesting we will be in dire circumstances over the winter. We can't deny fall is here, temperatures have started to go down and winter is fast approaching.  Everywhere we’ve been asked to do things differently, adjust to increasing restrictions and celebrate the Holidays differently. Constantly, we are hearing the doom and gloom that these changes are bringing, but, Do we need to embrace misery and darkness or can we bring joy and life into the situation?

I don't think that we should embrace a "Dark Winter". This statement is dangerous and irresponsible.  I think that we can choose to have a hopeful winter!

I choose not to embrace this statement nor the hopelessness that it brings, I rather choose to embrace hope and I invite you to do the same! It's going to require us to purposely work on maintaining a mindset that is focused on what God has said rather than what “others” are saying.

The Bible tells us in Romans 12  that we are not to be conformed to this world but to rather renew our minds. It's easy to say and sounds very simple but I know for sure that it requires us to work purposely and commit to change.

One of the things that I constantly use to renew my mind is to write affirmations or truths that will help me work on the areas that I'm struggling with or I need to overcome. This helps me focus on what God has said about me and my future rather than focusing on the circumstances.  Simple routines can also help. For example, I write down these verses or affirmations in a visible area at work or at home so I can see them all the time and be reminded of these truths. I force myself to speak these truths out loud even if I don't feel like it because when I say them I can embrace them and change can manifest.

I challenge you today to write 3 affirmations or promises that you could use on a daily basis to embrace hope and a healthy mindset. Consider to continue this work for 21 days look back and measure if there is any change. let me know if this helps!

Key Bible Verse:

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Let’s turn this into a hopeful winter. We got this!  XOXO ~Barb
