Is today a Good day?

Is today a good day?

I ask this question every single day. When visitors come to the office, I greet them with this question. It sets the tone and helps me navigate and discern how they are walking into the office. In turn, I can adjust and try to support them by meeting them where they are. Every day is different and each day brings something wonderful if we are able to see it.

As Maya Angelou said:
“This a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before.”

Sometimes we just need to "change our lenses"

Author Shawn Achor talks about this in his book "The Happiness Advantage" in which he presents the idea of us looking through a different set of lenses when it comes to difficult situations to maintain a healthy and happy state of mind.

In the same way, the Bible in many ways invites us to "look again" and change our perspective so we can see God POV and goodness upon our lives. If we choose to be grateful throughout the course of our day, even if it is not a good one, is one we can shift our perspective and maintain a "Happy Heart" In Fact we are to give thanks to the Lord always!

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!

Psalm 107:1

Recently, I could not help but notice that I need to be more proactive to be cheerful and grateful in some areas. I have allowed the many changes and challenges of the season we are facing, in a sense to rob me of the joy of being grateful for the simple things.  I thing that  as we enter into the new challenges this pandemic is throwing at us and we figure out  how to keep traditions and festivities alive in new ways we all need to be reminded to "see"  these days under a different light and look for opportunities to be grateful; but,  How can we do that?

One of the things I talk about in my book is to create daily practices or routines that will help us maintain our focus.  I have noticed that due to the uncertain times that we are living in I have had trouble keeping some routines and practices in place. Perhaps you feel the same as way and like me; you have been thrown off by the ever-changing demands of this season.   It happens sometimes!  The good news is that we can choose to adapt, change, and turn around our circumstances. I did!  I decided to rekindle the flame of gratitude and change my lenses during the season leading to Thanksgiving. Will you join me?

If you choose to  join  here is what we will do today:

***Meditate on how good God has been to you this year even in the midst of these uncertain times. Write down 3 things you are grateful about. ***

Key Bible Verse:

Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ephesians 5:20

I hope his blesses you today!  XOXO ~Barb
