I helped a lady about a week ago. I listened, reached out to someone, and that someone opened the door for her. Today, I met that lady and her little boy in person. She was very appreciative of the help and we connected a little bit more. When this family walked away I couldn't help but wonder what this mini encounter will mean for their little boy… Will this small act change his life? Did I make a difference today?
I might never know; however, I do know that God places us in strategic places to use us for His glory to change lives. It is on the unexpected everyday life, doing the routine and sometimes meaningless things when we can; if we pause, listen and take action; touch the lives of those around us in ways that we never dreamed or imagined.
The Bible encourages us repeatedly to do unto others do to others what you would have them do to you and to love our neighbour. This is how we love them. We serve them and honor them in our daily lives. Not from a podium, not when everyone is seeing and not to boast about it but just by serving them even when they won't be able to do anything in return. We serve them and love them even if we will never see them again to know the impact of our actions. When we do we are loving us as well. We are daring to show up wholeheartedly and true to who we are. Without biases and preconceptions! The same is true when we choose to act or respond out of fear instead of love. We must check our heart constantly to get rid of those biases or preconceptions that will hinder us by making us prone to show up or respond out of fear.
The Bible says that the perfect love cast out fear. When we embrace love and dare to bring our true self and nature to the table we will touch lives for the better by showing up everyday purposefully and wholeheartedly. It's a process! If you are like me you will have days in which you will nail it and days in which you will fail. The key here is to learn, acknowledge and improve daily. One day at a time, one step at a time!
I want to encourage you today! It's in the small actions where you will see big possibilities! So, the next time you are in the middle of your boring meaningless tasks just know that an opportunity to make the difference will come your way and if you take it you will do amazing things. Do not underestimate the value of what you bring to the table, dare to make the difference today!
